When using above 24 cameras, a network architecture is the way to go to speed up the file download process. Raspberry Pi is the most efficient way to do this as no configuration is required. You simply need to clone microSD cards
Setup
1- Software setup
Flash one microSD card using our cloner. That’s it. No ip address to specify, no Linux commands to type, no OS configuration. Once you have one microSD flashed, you can used the batch cloner to speed up this process.
2- Hardware setup
- Insert the microSD card in the Raspberry Pi
- Connect your ethernet cable from the Raspberry Pi to your network switch (or router)
- Power up the Raspberry Pi. It takes about one minute to boot. Once it is ready, you should see your Pi right away in the Status panel in Xangle. If you have any cameras connected to that Pi (by USB), you’ll see them right away. Make sure your Raspberry Pi and your computer are on the same network. Refer to the troubleshooting guide for additional details
microSD cards
1- Pre-flashed cards cloner
Pre flashed cards (ready to use!) are now available from our store. Simply follow this link to get packs of 6 MicroSD cards: https://xangle.store/products/4x-16gb-microsd-cards-with-xangle-raspberry-pi-client
By doing this, you cut corners and you're ready to roll with zero setup time on the Raspberry Pis. Once you receive our cards, you simply insert them in your Raspberry Pis and you're good to go (no operation on the Pis at all - we automated everything). Please note that if we do major updates, you might have to clone a new image using the procedure below
2- Built-in cloner
Steps to clone a micro-sd card
- Run Xangle Camera Server in Administrator mode (right click on the app shortcut, run as administrator)
- Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost:8091/pi-cloner
- Insert a MicroSD card in a card reader on your computer. Make sure you don't have any other cards or usb-sticks connected to the computer to avoid any bad surprises. Use cards with capacity of at least 16gb
- Download the up-to-date image (click on the "download image" button). You only need to do this once.
